The anatomy of a mountain bike

There is a lot of terminology to learn if you're a fan of mountain biking. These enthusiasts have own language, what with "face plants, Boing-Boing, drillium and wild pigs."

However, there is also a bike terminology that stays the same, regardless of the user's age, and that is the terminology used for the individual parts of the bike. And its important to know these well.

1. BB – A circular hole in the bottom frame of the bike used to attach the plate.

2. Brake cable – The cable that connects the brake lever with the brake mechanism.

3. Brake lever – lever on the handlebar to activate the brakes. The left lever controls the front brake, right lever controls the rear brake.

4. Chain – The set of circular metal links that transfers power from the chain ring gears. There are two types of chains bicycle hub and bushingless.

5. Dishes – Part of the crankset. A pinion or sprocket that attaches to the handle and holding the string. Bicycles can be two to three dishes.

6. Crank – Part of the crankset. The lever or "arm" that connects the pedal to the bottom bracket.

7. Derailleur – The device that moves the chain from one plate to another inorder to change gear.

8. Down tube – Part of the structure. The tube that runs diagonally from the address bar (with handlebar holder) to the bottom bracket. Beyond this is the top tube, which runs from the head tube to the seat.

9. frontal impact – A front suspension system that allows the holder the bike to absorb shocks without transmitting them to the rider.

10. Handlebar – The horizontal bar at the front of the bike that is used to direct and containing the lever and break levers and other items that a cyclist will be within easy reach.

11. Headset – The device that holds the bearings allows the handlebars and front wheel to rotate as part of a bicycle. There are two types of headphones, the thread and the thread.

12. Hub – The central part of the bicycle wheel, which consists of a shaft and ball bearings to allow the wheel to move easily. In addition, the spokes radiating from the center of the bicycle tire.

13. "An idler pulley takes up the slack in the chain to keep the force at all times.

14. Mouthpiece – Small threaded cylinder bike tire to ensure a beam with the rim.

15. Pedal – A short metal bar in which to put his foot to propel the bike. The pedal is attached to the handle. Pedals can be simple or come attached with clips in those shoes to increase leverage.

16. Rear shock – In a dual suspension bike, the device absorbs shocks from the rear tires.

17. Cuenca – The metal ring to which the bicycle tire is fitted, and the breaker applied force. The inside of the wheel holds the spokes that give strength to the tire.

18. Saddle – Also called the seat. Something to sit!

19. steering – tubular support to which the chair is attached. This tube is placed in the seat tube, and can increase or decrease depending on the rider.

20. Skewer – A metal bar that attaches the wheel to the bicycle frame. At one end is a nut to hold the skewer insurance, the other is the release mechanism, which is assured by a statement of "fast" or toggle bolts.

21. Spindle – Part of the bottom bracket. The free rotation of the crank shaft to which the arms attach.

22. Radios – The thick wires that join the center of the rim. The number of radios will determine how strong the tire. The rays can also be organized in different ways, affecting the torque and braking forces.

23. Stem – The metal piece that connects the handlebars to the steerer tube.
